Tips for Aamco Transmissions

February 09, 2013

This is what happened to my friend's daughter who was driving cross country and her car's transmission broke down at the SLC Aamco. This is how they take care of stranded motorists. They are dishonest and unChristian like. This is her mother's account of the events. Ree's recently replaced transmission failed nearly 2 weeks ago approaching Salt Lake City. It was under warranty, so she contacted the Denver shop that installed it, and waited for the replacement to arrive at the Aamco in SLC. It delivered before 11:00 am on Wed. I know, because I called the trucking company. Ree was told at 5:00 pm by Cal at Aamco that it arrived 15 minutes earlier, therefore no time to work on it. I called and spoke to Cal on Thursday and was told it would be ready by close that day. When I asked why they had not worked on it Wed, he said they had no lift available. I explained to him that she was stranded, had run out of money the first week, and would have to drive 8 hours in the dark over mountains. This did not impress him. Then my son Andy called, and learned that the reason they had not started work, was because it was not an Aamco warranty, and they had local paying customers who took priority. Andy told him that it was not very Christian to assist his customers who lived locally, and had homes to go home to while a young girl was stranded 500 miles from home all alone. He said he had a business to run. The car was not ready Thursday by close of business. In fact, it was not ready until close of business on Friday. Ree started out for home via I 80 through WY. She was forced to stop at a closed truck stop due to white out conditions. When she could see, she once again continued on. Driving 35 miles an hour on I80, she hit ice and spun out of control, off the interstate and through a fence. Her car was damaged but she was not injured. She called the police, who arrived and promptly cited her for not maintaining her lane. With car now completely out of alignment, she bravely made it to Rawlins, WY near dawn, and checked into a motel, where she remains. She was supposed be at work this morning, but I convinced her that arriving home alive was more important than arriving on time. When Cal at Aamco told my son Andy, that he "had a business to run", he was reminded that successful businesses run by good word of mouth. Remember this next time you choose to give Aamco business. My daughter still has to get her car repaired enough to make it back to Boulder. I pray she will finally arrive safely, and hope you will join me. Seemingly minor choices made based on self-interest alone can have far reaching effects on so many lives. I wish Cal could feel a tiny fraction of the panic I felt last night, and the fear Ree experienced trying to keep her damaged car on the road enroute to Rawlins.

Would go back again in a heartbeat. Great experience. They towed my daughter's car for free. Fixed the car for less than we supposed it would cost. These people are genuine and for the first time in many years I experienced true customer service at it's best.

Wonderful Experience with AAMCO. We recently arranged a group concert for a charity organization and I volunteered my truck to bring all the necessary stuff and required equipment. Unfortunately, my truck got dents and bumps during the entire process and I wasn’t very happy to see its condition.

My friend asked me to try out AAMCO Sarasota and I must say that was a wise step that I took. The whole experience with Jim Cosby’s team was wonderful as they made my truck brand new once again in a day’s time. That was what I wanted!

Fast and honest service. The other day I found a big puddle of transmission fluid under my truck, and upon further investigation found that my pan had a serious leak. I took it to the Aamco in Murray, and they had a diagnosis within 30 minutes. It was exactly what I thought it was, I needed a new pan. Upon a few phone calls they weren't able to find me a post-market one, only an outlandishly priced new one from the dealer. But then an employee sold me one that he had for a fraction of the price. They fixed it within an hour and a half, no more leaks! Total charge was 96 for the labor and 50 for the part. Thanks to Mike and the guys!
