Great food nice people and good times!
love it. I love going to watch games and fights at Lumpys. It is nice to not have to go downtown to get to a decent bar. The food is good and I always have a good time.
NOOO bueno :(. Lumpy's used to be my go to bar in SLC (the one on Highland) since it's near my house and more laid-back (or so I thought). My boyfriend and I had been there PLENTY of times during the summer, never knowing there was a "dress code." One of the waiters Pete (dark hair, tall) always hit on my friend when we'd go in, and served us food plenty of times, such that we figured he would at least recognize our faces. One Saturday night my friends and I decided to head to Lumpy's. We were a group of about seven people, and when we entered we were stopped abruptly by the door man because my boyfriend was wearing a tank-top. We were surprised and said we'd been here plenty of times and never knew there was a dress code (of course this only applies to guys as we've seen girls there dressed quite slutty HA!). Pete walked by and the doorman said "It's up to him. Do you know these guys?" He looked at us (or rather looked down his nose at us) and said, "Nah." We said "you always hit on my friend here!? You know you recognize us!" He still told us to leave and our friend said "well you just lost money." to which Pete replied "Like we need it; our parking lot is full!" very rudely. I understand the dress code (although I don't see why a place like Lumpy's would have one considering there bathroom is a bit shady and the waitresses/waiters definitely don't exude "upper class"...I'd always thought of Lumpy's as a favorite "dive" bar...) but I don't understand or appreciate condescending employees. We will not return to Lumpy's because of this rude, unappreciative employee named Pete (and Joel was the doorman). Jackasses if you ask me.
both locations are great. Tv's at every table , bacon cheese burgers bigger than your mouth.... Great atmosphere great food , fun place
Great neighborhood Bar and weekend dance club. Lumpy's Highland is a totally different bar than the Downtown Lumpy's . This is Lumpy's Highland. There is no dance floor upstairs, the dance floor is in the basement and it's fun top 40 stuff you've heard . I think 2 of the 3 negative reviews on here are for the downtown location. If you don't like loud music this is the place for you . If you do like loud music this is the place for you . Two very different levels have everything you could want in a locals bar. I like this bar because you can dress pretty much however you want and fit right in age range is 21-85 . A classic American Bar have fun!
Lumpys - Longstanding Members.
Lumpys is a longtime Sugarhouse (area) hangout that still maintains the best Utah fan base in town. Pre and post game during football season is great.
Don't expect to establish much of a rapport with the door guy since each seens to last about a week, and many of the servers act like you're lucky to be there.
(I flamed one earlier, but she probably needs all the help she can get in this economy.)
Go, enjoy, & drive safely!
worst bar in salt lake. You knowyour in a bad bar when the bartendar does not know what bourbon is. She was so rude and abnotious I could not believe it. She tried pawning off high end bourbon (really crown) through a gun. She made several over pours and tried charging me for them. If Lumpy's hires dumb bitches like that it is no wonder there was only a handful of people inside.
Not the place to dance.. So, when a friend said we are going to "Lumpy's" I said "what, that's the name?" and just judging by that only, I was worried. We showed up, and the big fat bouncer on crutches was rude to my girlfriend, really rude, and upon a simple conversation told her to go find another place. Should have taken his advice. We ended up staying all of maybe 30min. I had to laugh at the "dudes" upstairs, not one dancing, just standing there on one side of the room eye-raping the skanky girls "dancing" on the other side of the room. My girlfriends comment was "I feel like I've read too many books to be in here". I assume if you're a dude who likes to stair at those types of girls, and watch Sports Center at the same time, it'd be a pretty good time for you. But if you are looking to dance, not advisable to go to a place called Lumpy's. good luck.
good. This is the Ute Athlete hang out. Very diverse. plays reggae. tons of fights. 3 levels, dance floor upstairs, tvs in booths. very nice club.
A neighborhood sports bar favored by a wild mix of college students, karaoke disco kids and old golfers..
It's like Thanksgiving dinner with extended family: The adults' table is upstairs, where older ladies and gents talk sports and tell off-color jokes; the kids' table is downstairs, where the college-age crowd sings rousing renditions of anything by Gloria Gaynor, plays pool or dances to whatever party-happy selections the DJ chooses.
But Lumpy's is first and foremost a sports bar. The place gets packed when a big game is on, so arrive early to get a seat. During college basketball season, take a fun bus with a crowd of regulars to the Ute game and back. Expect the typical salads, sandwiches and burgers, but there's also prime rib on Friday. Karaoke on Tuesday and Thursday, live DJ on Friday and Saturday, and the Blue Boutique's Naughty Nurses Fashion Show on Thursdays at 10pm.
