Editorial Review for Michelangelo Ristorante – by Bob King
The Scene
Michelangelo's keeps a low profile, tucked downstairs in a former greasy spoon. Mediterranean blues and whites, a few touches of Italian decor and the accents of the Italian staff make this seem far removed from a Sugar House basement. It's best considered as an exceptional neighborhood Italian restaurant, and a good choice for couples who'd like to murmur by candlelight at a table for two.
The Food
Nothing heavy here, just the fresh, clean flavors of northern Italian cuisine, homemade pastas and breads, with imaginative sauces and salad dressings. Beef and tuna carpaccios provide a refreshing start, as does the white bean and fresh mozzarella salad. The homemade ravioli--spinach and ricotta or ground veal and walnut--are a longtime favorite. Specials supplement the enticing veal, beef, swordfish and salmon entrees. Fine tiramisu and cappuccino complete a gracefully continental evening.

The best Italian food I have ever had. I'm originally from New York and thought I have had good Italian. I can't believe I found this place. I love it and won't ever go to any other Italian place in Utah.
Pros: best Italian in Salt Lake, by far
Cons: location wasn't the easiest to find

I was really disappointed with Michelangelo's this time. Had been many times but this was the worst experience ever. Took forever for our waiter to take our orders and when she did she forgot to bring all the drink orders. The food was just okay- very, very salty. Our food took forever to get served and came out in phases making it necessary for people to start eating before everyone was served. It appears that the restaurant has gone downhill and perhaps has new management. By the way this was a birthday dinner and they even flubbed bringing out the cake. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Pros: parking
Cons: disorganized
