Best place to find gifts EVER!
by daveprince13 at Citysearch
I love DCI. The new owners are super nice and the cafe is a great addition to an already stunning selection of wonderful items and gifts. Whenever I have a person on my gift list that is always a fickle giftee I come here and am never disappointed. 5 stars!
one of best shops I've been in

I've had the pleasure of shopping there whenever I'm in Salt Lake City: 2-3 times a year. There are many temptations, great gifts and I love to go there. Both of my daughters live in SLC and also love to shop there.
Great Store

I love this store. I am visiting my daughter and she brought me here one of her favorite places. We had lots of fun checking everything out. i bought a couple of great celtic designed bed covers that i plan to quilt. i found the india bells i have been looking for all over houston. so many other things, i bought a blouse and a scarf. I wish we had a "Dancing Crane" in houston!
Loved for years by many!

Love this store. Have been a faithful customer for 5 years, since moving from Washington. It's so hard to find stores like this. I mean, things like candles, incense, etc are not that difficult to find but the clothing selection is like no other I've seen before. I've been around and it seems like their prices are very fair. The new owners are great by the way. I've heard people complaining about the amount of inventory but I've visited recently and it's all brand new (clothing, jewelry, etc) and I love that. I'm used to going and seeing a lot of items sticking around so this is great to see all new things. I'm sure their inventory will build up too.
Also, in response to "jessgreen420" review which seems much like a ranting session, Uhh.. Hmm.. can anyone say fishy? I find this review strange as it seems like the reviewer hadn't even talked to the new owner about it's renovation. I'm also a long time fan and spoke with the new owner. Found out she has worked there for 10 years or something like that and all the inventory currently in the store is brand new aside from very few and discounted items left over from the past. The owners before had been running the store for 15+ years and it took them a long time to build up the large selection they had. I'd say, don't doom a local business and give them a chance to build up their inventory. Jeez, they just started this month in April. P.S. Pros and Cons on this review are very contradictory!!
Love this store and am confident that my favorite store in the West will stick around for many years to come.
- Pros: Good service and people, beautiful merchandise!
- Cons: Um.... Not open 24/7?
Dancing Cranes Imports
by jessgreen420 at Citysearch
I brought a friend from out of town to Dancing Cranes Imports recently and was shocked and embarrassed at how little and picked over the selection was. I had raved to this friend about how incredible the variety and quality was, as I knew it for the last 5 years. The entire store seemed so much larger since many areas and shelves were empty and covered by sheets. It looked as though they were clearing the place out to close down. It also seemed as though the junk that was left was higher priced than I remembered. The pond was in a sad state, even my friend said "eww they need to clean the pond, poor fish". I found that even the drinking fountain water was turned off! I have read that Dancing Cranes was under new ownership and I was hoping that meant making the place even better, but it was terrible! We ended up buying a couple cheap rings and left disappointed. I am going to miss the Dancing Cranes that I knew and loved for so many years, as it was truely a unique and special store that I delighted in introducing many friends to. I am left wondering what the plans are for the store. Maybe they will turn it into some condos like what I have seen happen to some of the best historic buildings in SLC. Too bad the good things never last.
- Pros: Lots of tie dye clothing items
- Cons: What happened to all the inventory???
