Absence make the heart grow fonder. This place is closed. I've purchased marzipan cakes from here over the years and I'm looking for any information about their cakes because nothing I've ever had compares. If anyone has any idea if anyone else makes these cakes or even the recipes, I'd really really really appreciate getting info.
The marzipan is to die for. This is the very best marizpan available in this country. I'm serious. I love the martzipan cake at Scandia Kaffe House. I've tried other marzipan cakes, and they are too dry or don't have the right blend of flavors. This is where we ordered our wedding cake from, and we still (3 years later) get comments on how good the cake was. Highly, highly recommended.
Best Danish Pastery in Utah. Great pasteries inexpensively at a comfy little Scandanavian bakery. Also a good selection of Scandanavian deli items including lutefisk and unusual cheeses. Attentive but not interusive service.
For several decades, this has been the place to come for delicious marzipan-iced cakes..
The Scene
There are a few tables where you can sit down and enjoy them. Service is fast and friendly, with many of the workers of Scandinavian descent. In this area with so many Scandinavian immigrants and others who have spent time living and working in the Norse countries, they have quite the avid following for their authentic baked goods.
The Food
Order a little raspberry filling in your cake, and you have a confection unsurpassed. Scandia is most widely known for its bakery, which produces a variety of pastries, breads, and rolls, as well as pies, cakes, and cookies, but you can also get sandwiches like crab and turkey and avocado on their wonderful house bread, salads, soups, and, of course, coffee.
