Editorial Review for La Frontera – by Robyn Galbos

The Scene
Brown vinyl booths and white stucco walls decorated with south-of-the-border knickknacks and colorful Mexican blankets. The jukebox has everything from '70s rock to mariachi music.

The Food
Huge portions of rich Mexican food with Americanized flavors. If you're a cheese lover, this is your place--they really pile it on. For those with a hearty appetite, go for the small combination--that's right, small. It consists of a cheese enchilada, tostada, taco and burrito. Add chile verde, rice, beans and a tortilla, and you've got a large combination. On the a la carte menu, the smothered burrito is popular--fans of La Frontera's chile verde say nobody does it better. The chile relleno is a good bet, but be forewarned, it's covered in cheese. Tamales are another good choice.

Insider Tips

Tie One on Last Night?

If you're looking for authenticity, try the menudo for breakfast--many believe this soup is good for curing hangovers.

Una Mas Cerveza

La Frontera has several Mexican and domestic beers available.

Burn, Baby, Burn

The salsa served with chips looks innocent enough in its ketchup-style squirt bottle. But don't be fooled--it's packed with flavor and has plenty of fire.

A family favorite. When deciding on a place to go out La Frontera is almost always a considered or suggested place. Come hungry because the meals are large and its too good to leave any behind. Personal Favorite: Small Combination
