Best Salon in Town. I have been coming to Malstrom Salon for 4 years now and have never even thought about going to another. I go to Amber for eyebrow waxing and haircuts and she has never failed to amaze me with her talent. The other stylists are extremely kind and talented, so visiting any of them would be well worth your time. It is easy to access, either by car (free parking out front and in back) or by trax.

Damaging Highlights. I went to Amber for highlights awhile back. She was nice, but did not listen well and interrupted a lot.

I was very careful to explain that my hair was already damaged from highlights put in my hair by an inexperienced Aveda stylist, and that I wanted lots of base color showing with definite streaks of highlights. I showed photographs and a sketch of what I wanted, plus a bulleted list of what I did and didn't want so that I would get the highlights I wanted and not have damage on top of damage.

Despite the careful attempts to describe my needs, Amber put the highlights so close together that my hair ended up with a weird overall tint instead of streaks. It was heavily damaged a second time, and people asked me what had happened to it.

I have been getting highlights in other states for many years, but only in Utah have stylists put the highlights so close together that they damage the hair and don't look like highlights.

Amber had many years of experience, so I was surprised and disappointed at these results. She would greatly benefit from listening, not interrupting or resisting what the client is saying.

I have since had much better luck with highlights and cuts by Cassie Dean at Zazou Salon, who was able to highlight my hair the way I wanted it done and without causing more damage.

David Perkes knows best. I think many would agree that David is one of the best hairstylists around, the absolute best with blondes and highlights. I have been going to David for years and of course, like everyone else, have strayed a time or two and come back to him with my tail between my legs. What I have finally come to realize is, when I need a change, he can do it for me, I don't have to change salons or stylists to get the change I am looking for. He also makes everyone feel very comfortable and conversation is easy with him- you know that's important with a stylist! The salon could be updated, there is some clutter like topiaries etc but I well worth overlooking for a talent like David.

Talented stylist. If you're searching for a good hair stylist, I highly recommend David at Malstrom. I've been looking for a long time for someone who can deal with curly / wavy hair like mine and David knows exactly what to do with it. David is also very nice and fun to chat with, which makes for an overall great experience!

ALL MY BEAUTY NEEDS ARE MET @ MALSTROM. AMBER has been taking care of my hair and waxing services for years and she's great!!! It's so nice to make one appointment to take care of all my beauty needs, also the salon is a very nice relaxing place with the aroma of AVEDA products floating throughout. Highly recommend it!

Courtney is amazing!. I have had a total of three haircuts so far at Malstrom, and I will never go anywhere else! Courtney has completely transformed my obnoxious, unruly hair into a style that I can wash & wear (or style a bit for fun). I have never found a stylist so willing to listen to what the client wants and needs. I always leave the salon feeling great. The other stylists all seem so friendly, too. It is a great place. If you have fine, unruly hair that drives you insane, go to Courtney! She will AWE you with the results!

Awesome Salon. I've gone to Malstrom for a few years and I always get my hair and eyebrows done by Amber. She does a great job at shaping my brows and my color always looks great. Highly recommended!

Delightful experience. I have been going to Malstrom for three years now and have always loved the way Amber does my hair. She is especially skillful with color and does amazing things to hide my gray.

It's worth the travel time.... I travel over 3 hours to have the accomadting owner/staff at Malstrom Salon take exceptional care of my hair and skin needs. Chris Malstrom and his staff have created a attractive, peaceful and professional atmosphere. I love the attention to details from the time I make my appointment until the time I pay for the services/products I have received. I have been going to Malstrom for nearly two years now, everytime, I retrun from the Salon I receive oohs and ahhs from co workers and family members for the "new look" I come back with. I have recommended the Malstrom Salon to several colleagues and friends and all of them have enjoyed their expereience with Malstrom Salon as much as I have. Keep up the superb service and freindly atmosphere.

Edward Scissorhands. I now call Amber "Edward Scissorhands." I am extremely unhappy with my cut and everything I told her I didn't want, she did anyways. Needless to say, I will not be back to that salon ever again!
