Editorial Review for X-Wife's Place – by Jason Esplin
The Scene
The clientele is varied: You can find all types hanging out at the bar or shooting pool. Five pool tables line the north side of the club, while two dart boards, the bar and a smattering of tables occupy the south side. All kinds of music can be found in the jukebox, though it's a rare night when you don't hear Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin or Bob Marley. One of Salt Lake's best-kept secrets is behind the club: A spacious and very comfortable patio.
The Draw
Regulars come for the cocktails, while newbies are drawn in by the quirky name. Drinks are affordable and stiffly poured. Order one of the best bloody marys in town then slip back onto the patio for some laid-back conversation. This is a no-nonsense kind of bar--so patrons know to check their pretensions and attitude at the door.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoRegulars can be prickly about sponsoring you for the night, so either buy a membership ($20 per year, $5 for a temporary) or find out what your sponsor is drinking and buy the next round.

This is my favorite bar. The bartenders will know you by name, the people are friendly and you rarely see the sexijen types at this place. If you like lifting weights, popping your collar or anything involving Greek letters stay away. If you like down-to-earth people, friendly conversations and a kick (butt) bloody mary, this is the place for you. The bar is never too crowded and the abundance of pool tables is appreciated, also 75 cents per game is cheaper than most places. The outdoor patio is very nice for the warm summer nights and the cheap drinks are what keeps me coming back. The only things I would improve are to get a better dart board and start taking tabs as this is a cash only bar and the ATM gets $2.50 for doing nothing.
Pros: Pool tables, patio, cheap drinks, good scene
Cons: Cash only, dartboard could be revamped

Judging by your name, you're the type we'd see at "Greenstreet", where people go for attention and to be noticed. Ex Wife's is the most comfortable bar I've ever been to. The people there are completely genuine and I've RARELY seen a fight (only when idiot "new-comers" become belligerent ). I met some of my closest friends (including boyfriend) there. They are great unique and interesting people. Rarely do you see the phony EMO/Trendy crowd. It's AWESOME! Also - You will RARELY find a Republican A$$ Hat in this Bar. I'm sure you just don't know much about politics, but A LOT about being "sexi" though. That's ok...
Pros: People, Pool, Beer, PEOPLE
Cons: Cash only, Cold Toilet Seats in the Winter...
