Editorial Review for Rico Mexican Market – by Peter Behle
The Scene
Rico offers takeout only, so there's no place to dine. In addition to food, however, Rico's stocks a small selection of table linens, pinatas and the like.
The Food
It's all excellent--from chile verde and posole to burritos and tamales. Rico also features a variety of hand-made corn and flour tortillas sold in packages of 10, chips, and a nice selection of salsa (roasted tomatillo is exceptional). Eight varieties of tamales are served here. The burritos are huge; there are more than 20 different kinds. Both the tamales and burritos heat up perfectly in the microwave. New items include seviche, along with banana leaf-wrapped tamales and wheat "meat" burritos.

Insider Tips
Some Like It HotRico classifies all of its items on a heat scale from "gringo" (mild) to "loco" (hot).

I have had better tamales from the frozen section in the market. The Rico tamales are not world class like everyone assumes. People from New Mexico, California or Texas wouldn't give a second look. Plus the stuffing of my selction was spoiled. It was very hot in the market and I think they must not be paying attention.
Cons: Spoiled food

Mother-in-law had their burritos in the fridge and I partook of the wonderful taste and had to go there. Tortillas (corn) are so good, tamales are awesome, also good supplies for making this stuff at home. This place deserves your support!
Pros: Authentic, Great Quality
