What People Are Saying About Capitol Theatre

In Short – Capitol Theatre is home to the Utah Opera Company, Ballet West, and Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company. Touring Broadway plays and other events sponsored by outside promoters are also performed at the theater. When "Les Miserables," "Phantom of the Opera," and other road-show spectacles come through town, the Capitol Theatre is where they camp. Opening nights are an event; though in the way of dress, you'll see everything from furs to jeans.
Editor's Tips
- The Extras:
- One of Utah's finest restaurants is across the street from Capitol. Leave enough time before the show for a sit down dinner at Bambara.
- Know Before You Go:
- Refreshments are sold in the theater at intermission, but you can dash next door to Absolute restaurant for coffee or a drink.
Nudity does not enhance South Pacific production
by P J Citizen at Citysearch
I just viewed "South Pacific" at the Capitol Theatre. The music and staging was fantastic but I felt that the audience should have been warned in advance about the full nudity in the production. If it had been a movie it would have been rated R. I was so glad that my teenage grandchildren were not able to attend. The nudity was not essential to the plot and left a bad taste in my mouth. I am no longer confident that I can depend on Capitol Theatre management to schedule performances that I am willing to view.

This was the first Ballet I was able to take my daughters too. It was inspiring to us all. The talent of the young children was breathtaking. It gave me hope that the Arts are still alive in our young.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Inspiring, Magical
- Cons: none, none, none

It was truely an unforgettable experience. My fiance and I saw Saturday's Voyeur. It was a phenomenal performance. The building it's self is beautiful. I honestly think every seat in the house has to be a good one. You must see a perfomance at this theatre. We loved it and will return always!
- Pros: Perfomances, Atmosphere, Superbness
- Cons: none
