Innovative cinema at its Utah best..
Some nights it's Tarkovsky, some nights it's "The Utah Moviemaker's Club," a group of local senior citizens in Bountiful with a video toaster and a lot of family members willing to star in their movies. For five dollars, you really can't beat the programs here, which are put together by University of Utah film professor Kent Maxwell. Maxwell has transformed the formerly sluggish Film and Video Center into a sure bet for Friday-night entertainment. Whether it's documentaries, or "Works from Along the Wasatch Front" (a video version of a poetry slam), or finalists in the center's annual film-and-video festival, you can be guaranteed that it will be compelling, even if it's due to sheer strangeness.
