In Short – Ballet West is considered one of the premier artistic organizations in the western United States. Willam F. Christensen, recipient of the first individual CORPS de Ballet International Award, founded the company in 1963. The organization also has a hand in education: Ballet West for Children brings performances to local elementary schools, while the ICANDO program offers fifth-graders dance classes as part of their schools' curriculums. The company repertoire ranges from simple one acts to full-length productions.
