Murphy's downtown bar... a good lil' spot. I Really like this bar. Girls and guys who work here are great. and for bar food, I personally think it's some of the best. Try the hot ham and cheese sandwich. It sounds simple, but a lot of places screw it up. Not Murphy's. I named my mom's dog after this place. My only complaint..... I'm a wine drinker and I loathe the training glass they pour it in. Those teeny tiny glasses are a bit insulting. Like an after thought. It's not that i expect more wine to be poured, it's just that they look and feel like they are meant to be used by twelve year olds at a tea party. Get slightly bigger wine glasses, (nothing fancy) and i will give this place all five stars…
Murphy's Bar, Still A Great Time.... Got a chance to travel to salt lake city once again, exploring the mountains and then down to the Grand Canyon. While we were in Salt Lake, we got to visit Murphy's once again. Still a great place. Things have changed over the years, no more memberships and no smoking inside. This place has been spiffed up! Cheap drinks compared to other downtown bars and the daily specials, we tried two of them, tasted great. We will be back in 2012.…

Murphy's has created a comfortable atmosphere for the working class. Every time I go in there the customers are smiling. It seems as though the majority of the regular clientele work within the
industry. To me that says a lot about an establishment.
The barstaff is very capable and cordial. I never wait more than a few minutes for a drink. I know it seems odd to have to go to the bar to get a drink for many people, but in a bar without a cocktail waitress that seems reasonable to me.
The food menu is full of great sandwiches and appetizers. I have really enjoyed their daily specials and soups. The menu is vegetarian friendly, pescaterian friendly, and good old fashioned meat eater friendly. They make their corned beef in house for the Reuben and Wolven burgers. All the soups and sauces are made from scratch. The handmade tortilla chips and fresh salsa are excellent and worth every penny. I do wish they had hand-cut fries though.
The prices of the bar and food menu are fairly reasonable. Compared to many of the Bars in town that have food, Murphy's has better quality, consistency, and variety than most.
I would recommend all of my out-of-town friends to visit Murphy's at least once when visiting Salt Lake City.…
VERY SNOBBY BAD BARTENDERS AND TOO PRICEY. This bar seems like it could have alot of potential but the service and the prices make me never want to go here again. The staff was rude and seem to have a chip on their sholder for some reason, like you are bothering them if you want to order a drink. Just make the drinks, your just a bartender, and I am paying you. Definitly will not recomend this bar to anyone. Go somewhere that has a goos jukebox and doesn't break the bank.…
DO NOT GO HERE. I remember being in this bar one night when Rob, the owner beat up his 100 pound waitress choked her and threw her into a wall before random patrons could restrain him cause she was trying to keep this drunk coked out maniac from beating up a customer. it was unbelievable. yeah....go ahead and put money in THAT guys pocket. What a piece of work.…
