Editorial Review for Red Rock Brewing Company – by Virginia Rainey
The Scene
Inside a handsome one-story brick building with a polished wood interior, a wood-burning oven sits at the center of the Red Rock dining room. Cool and inviting in the summer and cozy in a rainstorm, it's a good place for groups and solo diners who like mingling at the bar. It always looks and feels like it's in top form, and service is generally first-class, too.
The Food
Expect smashingly good fish-and-chips with coleslaw, the best grilled Reuben sandwich in town and lots of full-meal salads, like the hefty New York steak salad. Rotisserie chicken is succulent, but order it with fries, not the rice. The burger is good and juicy. Wood-oven pizzas are always a tasty choice, especially the pesto cheese. In addition to a full menu of brews (10 on tap) and sodas, there's a wine list and cocktails.

This was my first visit to Red Rock, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It wasn't the spacious, clean, upscale luncheon experience I had, though. The staff was terrific -- attentive without smothering or being chatty. The food choices were surprisingly varied. I enjoyed the tuna pita while my companions devoured lasagna and salmon. The decor hada nice contemporary feel and it was well lit without being too bright. I didn't feel like I was in a pub but more like a great restaurant with a bar. It was a perfect choice for a business lunch. It may have a different feel evenings and weekends, but I'll be going back for lunch!
Pros: Great service, Terrific menu
Cons: Confusing parking

Red Rock has been around for a long time. I have eaten there since when they first opened and I still go there about once a month. They do a decent job with their service. It is sort of casual but that is the tip they are on so it works for them. Their Fish and chips are by far my favorite item. Believe it or not, good fish and chips are hard to find in Salt Lake City.
Pros: Good food and drink good price.
Cons: Sometimes very crowded.
