Go early on weekends, great place for groups.. Adults and children will love the show as expert and not so expert chefs toss knives, eggs, and shrimp into the air. The food is always good and cooked the way you want. This is a great place to bring the family, although once you've seen the show it gets old after the tenth time. Try the gyoza. Desserts are almost nonexistent, and the wine list is very limited.

Terrific. Bonsai Steak House is one of the best Japanese restaurants in the Salt Lake Valley. The food is just as good or better than Benihana's, while costing much, much less. The salmon and chicken are two of my favorite things. The fried rice and fried noodles are both tasty. The cooks are both talented and entertaining. Don't be fooled by the location- try it today!

Much better than Benihana. I must say Bonsai lacks sushi but when it comes to grill style cooking the food is better than Benihana, then service is MUCH better and the entertainment by the chef's (what many people go to Benihana for) is bar none superior. I would highly recommend Bonsai.

Great food/price/atmosphere!. Great place for a family dinner with 4 kids, a formal business dinner, or just a romantic date! The people are very friendly, especially the cooks. They get you involved in the cooking by joking with you and flipping food in your mouth. Nothing is funnier than seeing the cook flip a shrimp into your 6 yr old's mouth!

Loved it once again. We have eaten here several times. Wonderful atmosphere, friendly people. And good food. Open 7 days a week as well. Took my daughter there for her 8th birthday and she was so amazed. The meal tends to go pretty quickly but the food is good. Very affordable kids menu with shrimp, or chicken , or steak etc. No chicken nuggets here folks : ) I have also eaten at Benihana and I have to say, this place is just as good yet less expensive.We usually make reservations, but have not had to wait long when we did not . We will be back again and again. Once you are done eating though, you are encouraged to leave within a reasonable amount of time. Although this is done very politely. So not a place to eat if you want to spend 2 hours at the table visiting.

Better than Beni!. This place is the coolest place around! The chefs cook everything right in front of you, just like that other place but these guys really interact with you! They make jokes, bring you into the "show". They are excellent chefs preparing everything just right! Very accomidating, excellent food and a fun place to take a date, family, friends, EVERYONE!
