No corny down under lingo, just great service. She made us feel welcome and had great suggestions. Bubbly and happy. After a hard day I like that.
Call-ahead seating was definitely worth it!.
I had no idea the Outback Steakhouse in Sandy was so popular. We got there at 6:30 on a Friday night and the wait was already an hour. We had called ahead to get on the seating list, which ended up cutting our wait down to about 20 minutes.
The waiting area inside is pretty small. We were there in mid-October, and luckily on a night that was warm enough to wait outside, but if you?re going in the middle of winter, you may want to take that into consideration.
The food wasn?t the best I?ve had but it wasn?t the worst, and for a large restaurant chain it was about what you?d expect. Our server was attentive & charming and all in all it was a nice night out.
Upside: Friendly wait-staff, tasty (for large-restaurant-chain quality) food. A little on the salty side, but for my salt-loving fiance that?s more of an incentive than a deterrent.
Downside: The waiting area inside is so small that once we were seated, the ?overflow? from the waiting area was more or less right next to our table, which made it feel a little?crowded.
Australian tchotchkes and brews give this quintessentially American restaurant a distinctive Down Under flavor..
In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.
Call Ahead Seating - WHAT A JOKE !!. My husband and I went here for my birthday, we have 3 kids under the age of 6 so we get to go by ourselves too often. We chose them over a few other places because they were the only ones who offered the call ahead seating. We were told our time would be 7:45 and that when we arrived we would only have to wait MAYBE 15 minutes to be seated. 1 & 1/2 hours later we finally got a seat. The waiter was slow and we only saw him 3 times through out the whole night, Once to take our order, once to drop off our appitizer, and once to drop our check ( he seemed too busy taking care of his 8 top), he gave us back our change in the form of a $10 dollar bill, I guess he thought if we only had a ten he would get a $10 tip. The food was terrible, we ordered a Bloomin Onion (so tought we had to cut it). My husband had the 14 oz New York and I have the 12 oz special. First of all my steak was the larger of the two, his was OK, mine I ordered Med-Rear and was so tough I couldn't bite a piece I had cut let alone chew it. The salads have shrunk over time as well as the service. I would just call it a bad night, but this is the second time we have been there and the service and food was bad (last time they gave us a free appitizer card), we dicided to call later that night and let the manager know how poor the service was (he gave us a $45 gift certificate). I don't think we will ever go back or even recommend is to anyone else, not even for a free meal.
Slow seating. Tonight we visited the Outback in Sandy and were very disappointed. We were told we would have a 20 minute wait to be seated...our name was called 50 minutes later. We were a party of 4 adults and 2 kids and we were crammed into a booth made for 4 people. (I was told our wait was so long was because they were waiting for a six top for us.) We were not given kids menus and we received silverware after the appetizer and salads were served. The server was adequate and the food was marginal. I don't think Outback is worth the money or your time. There are better places to eat!!
Best Steakhouse In Town. The Outback Steakhouse, in my opinion, is by far and away the best steakhouse in town. Not only do you get the best value for your dollar. The food and service is outstanding. The staff is friendly and efficient, and the Victorias Filet is the best in town. Give the Outback Steakhouse a try, you will be blown away!
Have the Chocolate Thunder Down Under!. Although not always perfect, Outback Steakhouse is exceptional. Portions are generous (I always have left overs), salads are crisp and good, and the Chocolate Thunder Down Under is one of the best desserts I've ever had, especially when the brownie is hot and the ice cream is extra cold! I could eat here once a week and not tire of it. Service is great and the only times I've had to wait is when it's very busy (so it was expected). Do youself a favor -- go to Outback today!
Mr. I was very unimpressed with my recent trip to Outback Steakhouse. I used to enjoy their service; however, they have been falling down hill recently. The food was tasteless, they were out of Prime Rib, my wife and I waited several minutes after finishing our drinks, before they were refilled - three times. We received our Salads and Bread after the main course had arrived, 45 minutes after being seated. In the future, I feel my $55 could be better spent. Very poor service, for the cost! There are much better places in Utah, that are worth what you pay.
Excellent restaurant. We had to wait a bit for seating, but I expect that was because we went during general conference weekend. The food was wonderful - my daughter especially liked their smoothies. If you get the Prime Rib, go for the Outback-style. It's the best!
Yummy!. My husband and I absolutely love Outback! We start off with the cheese fries which are soooo good! We both order the primerib, which is so delicious. It is the best prime rib I've ever tasted! The service is always great, the servers are cheery and they do a good job.
