The Scene
From old flour sacks to tin shades lighting the booths, the place is reminiscent of times gone by. Families with small children and shoppers at Gardner Village are frequent visitors.
The Food
American food abounds--onion rings, sandwiches, and a variety of entrées are all moderately priced. For appetizers, the fried green tomatoes with creamy salsa ($4.99) are a specialty. For a calorie overload, order them in the combo plate with breaded avocados and onion rings ($6.99).
Among the main courses, the pot roast with pan drippin' gravy ($9.99) and the fish and chips made with halibut ($11.99) are favorites. The mango chutney pork chops ($14.99), served with a warm fruity sauce, are hearty and delicious. For a lighter meal, try the spring pasta--asparagus, tomatoes, green onions, and mushrooms over fettuccini ($8.99). Entrées include soup or salad, rice or potato, fresh vegetables and sourdough bread--you won't leave hungry.

Insider Tips
Got a Sweet Tooth? If you're in the mood for a rich dessert, try death by chocolate, a concoction of chocolate cake, hot fudge sauce, whipped cream, and a cherry ($3.49); or the caramel apple cobbler, a fruit crisp topped with ice cream and caramel topping ($4.49).
NearbyGardner Village is noted for its quaint shops, making this a good place to take visitors.
Having a Party?Private banquet facilities are available.
AmbianceThe booths are roomy and relatively quiet, but babies are clearly in evidence.

I thought the first time were visited it was just a bad day. But the second time we still were served cold food, soggy salad with brown lettuce and prime rib that was ordered medium but served well done. The cheese sauce had a 'skin' layer as if it had been sitting for a long time. The baked potato was so cold the butter wouldn't melt. We were asked if we wanted another beverage after our meal was completed and glasses had been empty for 45 minutes. It took 2 hours from the time 4 of us sat down until we were brought a check. I won't be going back.
Pros: None
Cons: mediocre food and terrible service

My past two visits have been disappointing for my guests and me. The food is the major draw back. I would be glad to pay more for food that is more flavorful and fresh. For a caual family atmospher it is great. Too bad about the food. I probably will not return.
Pros: Atmosphere
Cons: Food preparation, Food freshness
