I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. I have been to Johannas Kitchen about 5 times, usually ordering take out for breakfast. Not one time have they ever got my order right. And the sad thing is it's not special instructions or anything, just plain old from the menu omlette or whatever. One time I called them and they refused to reimburse me in any way until I argued and finally they would give me a discount on my next order. I haven't been there for about 8 months and my husband convinced me to try again. I ordered a Spanish Omlette and they gave me eggs and hashbrowns. I called to complain and the girl was silent on the phone until I finally just said Bye. I wouldnt reccomend you eat at this restaurant. Its overpriced, outdated, awful service, and the manager acts like a child. If you head a little down the road to Outpost Cafe you will be very pleased, especially for breakfast. Too bad I didn't.
Johanna's Kitchen in Sandy=Horrible Customer Service.
I just wanted to express to you the horrible customer service I had
with the owner/manager/cook at Johanna's kitchen in Sandy. I have never in
my entire life been treated so horrible at restaurant.
My family and I went to go to lunch at Johanna's Kitchen on New Year's
Day before we went shopping. When we got there we were told the wait
would be 30 minutes, which we were fine with. The girl at the
register asked us if we wanted to stay and we said yes. After waiting
for over 45 minutes we saw many customer finish their food and there
were many empty tables. We went to ask the hostess when were going to
be seated and she said that the cook was not letting anybody be seated
until he was caught up. At that point we asked to speak with the
manager. A man came out and got in my dad's face in a confrontational
way and became very argumentative. After a few attempted questions we
found out he was the owner/manager/cook. We displayed our displeasure
to him about how we were treated by him and his staff and left. As we
were leaving he was waiting for us out back where our cars were
parked. He then started arguing with us again. If I were you I would
stay away from Johanna's kitchen unless you want to be treated
horrible, feel threatened and have the police called on you when you
complain about the service.
slow, bad service, food overrated. for some reason this place has a good reputation. can't think why though. every time i've been here the service has been dismal and the food mediocre at best.
Great rolls.... The rolls really are the best. If you are looking to just eat rolls, or to take rolls home then I would recommend this place. I really tried to try the food but after 35 minutes I finally had to ask the hostess if I needed to order at the counter because no one came by to help us. The waiter came by and could not suggest anything but sandwiches and pie and had not tried anything on the menu that I was concerned about. I ordered a hamburger and my date ordered a sandwich and both were pretty bad, and they took a long time to prepare. When it came time for dessert the waiter talked about pies quite a bit so I tried one and it tasted like it was out of a grocery store. I will go back to give it another chance but the first time was a poor experience.
Slow kitchen. We went on a Sunday morning and were sat right away. However, we had to wait over 30 minutes to get our food and all the people around us had to wait at least that long. When our food was brought out they left off a portion and it was never delivered. The food we did receive was not very good and definately not worth the wait.
low quality. I had heard these chefs specialize in breakfast. The food is not good. I gave them a try for lunch a while later. They should sell this property and retire. An International House of Pancakes would do much better in this location. This Kitchen is out of style and low quality. It has been there too long with no inovation.
Definitely not a 9.0. Used to live in Salt Lake City and heard that Johanna's was a good place for breakfast. Left seven years ago, and tried it today (2/24/07) with my ten year old son. His giant cinnamon roll was good. However, my pancakes were ever so average. Tasted like Bisquick! Usually "homey" places can do a pretty good job with something as basic as pancakes, but Johanna's cakes are subpar. Ate 'em just because I was brought up in the Midwest where you eat everything you ordered. Definitely would not return. Should have went to Blue Plate like my son had suggested.
Breakfast. It you want a great tasting & affordable meal, you have to check out these guys. The breakfast if wonderful. I swear it will remind you of your grandma's food from back in the day. Besides myself & me husband, my kids love it! You will not be disappointed!
Bring an appetite. You'll get a big, solid meal for a decent price..
The Scene
An old-West motif dominates. Sit down and get ready to be greeted by a bevy of high school-aged waiters--it almost feels like you're in some Junior Achievement class experiment.
The Food
Breakfast is the highlight of the large menu and it's served all day. Go for the country-fried steak and eggs and you won't head home hungry. The western omelet is a bit light on the fillings, with just a few tiny pieces of ham. Lunch choices head into the sandwich area--highlighted by the Turkey Blaster (turkey, tomato, lettuce and melted Swiss) and the Pepper Steak Deli (steak, peppers, onions and melted Swiss). Dinner is a bit more expensive with most choices (steak, halibut, pork chops and chicken) in the $10-12 range.
A Redwood Road kind of place. Sorry, I was very disappointed in Johanna's. My girlfriend wanted to take me out for a special birthday breakfast. We decided to try Johanna's for Sunday brunch. We were seated in a room where they had a TV broadcasting a sports event (I am not a sports fan!). The atmosphere of the place is old and not so clean. The food was unremarkable; very plain and ordinary. The service likewise.
