I wanted to like it. I really did.
Tonight was the first time my wife and I decided to get a bit fancy and go to Carvers. Our expectations were naturally very high considering price. It was a Friday night which is when fine restaurants typically bring their A game. We both ordered Prime Rib, which is usually the safest bet that you'll get a cut that is very tender almost now matter where you dine. Well guess what. My wife's medium rare 8 oz came to her well done and rife with gristle. My 11 oz had the texture of a skillet ham steak. I had to saw at it with my knife. You're not supposed to have to saw at a prime rib, especially when you expect to drop a C note for couple dining.
The staff and management were very kind and understanding.
It was probably just a bad night for them, but at fine dining restaurants, it's 1 strike, you're out.
A perfect 10!.
Big city dining in Sandy. The perfect steakhouse. Great atmosphere, excellent service and the best prime rib I have had in a long time. We celebrated our 50th birthday with a group of old high school friends. It could not have been a better night. Thanks Carvers!
Also, we have held two different business luncheons at Carvers in the last 3 months. The first had over 80 guests. The second was smaller in the room with the fireplace. Great draw for business lunch and we will be back!
What Happened to our Favorite Steak House?.
Carvers has long been a favorite of mine. They type of place that I go to a few times a year. I've even been influential in getting my company to come here for Christmas parties and other events.
For Valentine's day I wanted a special night out with the wife. We decided at the last minute to go to our favorite… Carvers. Wow! What a letdown! and sad enough I could tell we were not the only couple disappointed. Everything came out slow, cold and cooked wrong. The waitress was trying, but apparently it was all too much for the kitchen to handle. I have to say I was very disappointed and will not return or recommend Carvers for any reason. They are destined to go the way of other steak houses in the South Valley. Starts well, lingers, and slowly drifts downhill. Too expensive to try again.
What once was the best Steak house in the South end of the valley is now something you would not recognize. Save your sixty bucks per person and go to sizzler. At least they will cook it right the first time.
The best steak I have ever had!. I don't normally like steak or seafood but the food I had at Carvers was amazing! It is some of the best food I have ever had!!! The service was excellent very knowledgeable about the menu. I would defiantly recommend Carvers to everyone! You have got to check it out!
Overpriced for what you get.... The prices are too high for the quality of the dishes. The waiters I have had are not knowledgeable about the dishes, how they are prepared or anything nor do they have a clue about alcoholic bevarages. Our waiter was worse than what I would find at Denny's. For example - we ordered raspberry bread pudding to-go but yet he still brought them to us prepared and on a plate... we explained again that they were to-go items and sent him back with them. He seriously just dumped them in a to-go box with the sauce all over it and the ice cream still on top... We pointed that out yet again but he still did it a 3rd time. So in the end we got home with soggy gross bread pudding that had melted ice cream all over it.... that was the last impression we had after spending way too much money on an average meal and lousy service. I won't go back.
Just okay, very tired furnishings.. While the service was good the food was about a 5. Just okay and not really worth the money. The "double cut" prime rib came out the same thickness as the other cut, just with a bone in it. The saddest part is this place is tired. No tablecloths, beat up old tables and chairs, dirty carpet and a front desk staff that just does not "get it". Made a BIG point that I was 5 minutes early. Go somewhere else.
Needs Some Work. Tried the reopened Carvers in Sandy Fri. night. Parking lot was full so very hopeful. However, upon entering, all hopes dashed. Lack of Host or Hostess at front desk. Surly host when he finally came out of the back. Desperately need more than one person at the front desk on Fri and Sat so people are not standing around clueless. Atmosphere was horrible. Put some tablecloths on the tables or get new ones that don't look like they fell out of the back of a semi going down the freeway. Clean up the place and improve the look. Very dated and dungeon like. Food just OK, nothing that would make me run back for. The only good thing I can think of was we were lucky enough to have a great waiter who used to be the bar manager. I noticed that the tables around us were not so lucky and had poor to non-existent service and poorly trained. PS What happened to the great dark bread they used to serve? Definitely need to add blue cheese salad dressing to their list--afterall it is a steak house!!!
Over rated. We went to Carvers last night for the first time. We were very dissapointed. My husband had prime rib. It was very very thinly sliced and was not cooked properly. I had the filet mignon which was burnt on the outside, not cooked how I had ordered it and was so salty that I couldn't really get the taste of the meat. The servcie was very poor. Our waitress never refilled our water glasses and seemed to be to busy to both with us.
It was alright.. Great ambience for sure! But I wasn't too impressed by their prime rib, it lacked flavor.. I didn't like the horseradish sauce, I'd prefer actual horseradish. But everything else was great. Great service, great atmosphere.
amazing steaks and service. Brought my girlfriend here for a special evening and we were amazed at the service (Jill is AWESOME) and the fantastic food. Best steak I've ever had, seriously. I've been to Spencers before and I think my steak was as good if not better plus I paid a third as much. Carvers is now one of our favorite places.
