Used to be great, but Redford is slacking. When in doubt go to Zoom. I mean the Sundance Kid owns the place, how could it be bad. For years the first choice establishment of park city celeb and deer valley residents, it has gone down hill in recent years. I always want to give Zoom another chance and I leave with a heavy heart. That said, I will probably try it again, because, well I am sucker for fireplaces and aging blond actors. The uptairs room is quiet, cozy and good for small parties.
Don't Bother Making Reservations!.
The hostess, "Paris" told us that she couldn't find our reservation, though the hotel we are staying at gave us a confirmation number! She literally lost our reservation and was RUDE about it - she pushed aside to deal with other people, then when she saw we weren't push-overs, she hastily sat us at the WORST TABLE IN THE ENTIRE place - we were right infront of the door so whenever it opened a cold gust of air nearly blew us over. We ate with our ski jackets on we were so cold!
Despite the hostess' incompetence, the food was mediocre at best. Portions are big. That's about all I can say.
Terrible Service. Our server acted like we were bothering her by being there. Very rude, and so slow. It took forever just to get a soft drink. I ordered fish tacos and I've had better at fast food joints. Would not recommend.
Rub elbows with the rich and famous at this eclectic Park City restaurant..
In Short
Long wooden bars, cozy booths and a large, round table in front of the fire invite diners to sit, schmooze and be seen. Mexican seafood ceviche with homemade tortilla chips make a great starter. The baby spinach salad with creamy gorgonzola dressing, prosciutto, and pear is a new variation of an old favorite. Double R Ranch ribs with cornbread and coleslaw recall rustic Utah flavor. Finish with the warm cherry cobbler with toasted almond ice cream.
Consistent Upscale Comfort Food. I've been going to Zoom for years and can say that it is consistently good. The lunch menu has a little bit for everyone with my personal favorite being the burger and homemade fries. I also recommend the mac and cheese on the side. Much better than what mom can make. For dinner, you can't go wrong with the ribs or the halibut. The specials are always very good. Wine list is a Sundance private label from various vineyards on the west coast. The Chardonnay is what most of my friends love. Decor is very good especially in the summer with quite possible the best outdoor patio in Utah.
Very Nice. I brought out of town guests to Zoom for dinner on 2/26/03 and we were not disappointed. The menu was well varied, and I would say that all of our selections were very good to excellent. The grouper special and pork chops were both especially good. The Brownie with homemade peanut butter ice cream was out of this world! Really pleasant experience: I'll certainly return soon. On the con side, the hard surfaces make for a noisy environment when full, as it was that night. Service was a bit slow, but not a problem for us, as our waiter was very knowledgeable. The wine list is pricey, but again, not a problem for us as we chose cocktails. Prices are fair for Park City. Recommend!
Where's Robert. Zoom is a good restaurant with a good if limited menu. The outdoor patio, when open, is very nice. The south dining room is preferred, because the smoke and smells from the open grill, while not unpleasant, detract from conversation. The wine list has improved but still has a way to go. We enjoy Zoom about 10 or 12 times a year. It's clearly in the top 20.
Slow Service, Bad Attitudes. I've been there several time and the service is always bad. The waiters pretend like they really aren't waiters and they come to work just find out where the parties are later that night. And if you ask to talk to a manager they aren't any different.
