Out of the way but fun to visit. A bit of a drive, but some decent barbecue. Not the best, but a good version none the less. Ribs are a bit plainly seasoned but competent. Sauce is pretty good. They do good chicken too. Sides are on a par with the food.

Great Barbecue and a Great Value. We ordered a large amount of beef brisket and pulled pork to host a large party. Everyone loved the food, especially the brisket. The sauce complemented the meat very well and was not overpowering, so it was great as an all around crowd pleaser. Was this the best barbecue I've ever had? Probably not, but it was definitely one of the best in Utah, and I feel like we got more than our money's worth. The service was excellent. When we went to pick up our order it was well packaged and they carried it out to our car. I will definitely come back to get food for another gathering, and to try eating in the restaurant with my family.

Really Dreadful Food. This had to me some of the worst BBQ I've had the misfortune to sample. The ribs appeared to have been boiled and then lightly flamed on a grill. They were completely tasteless and the BBQ sauce was not even as good as a Del Monte or Hunts product you could pick up from Albertsons. The brisket was equally tasteless. Side dishes were equally disappointing. Given the limited number of BBQ places in Utah, I would like to be able to say something good about the place but the only positive thing I can offer is that there appeared to be plenty of tables available and no waiting for takeout.

The Best BBQ I have Had. If you have any interest in BBQ you should try this place. It has been around longer than I have lived in Utah, 20 years, and it has always been great food. It is definatley Utah's version of BBQ - but it is worth trying. The brisket is my favorite followed by the chopped pork. The beans are also to die for. My mother in law has me bring them to every family get-together since I live near by. As for the ambience - it is a family friendly place and pretty casual. I would recommend going on a week night since it is usally PACKED on a friday night.

Pleasant bbq in slc. The baby back ribs are amazingly soft . This is the best thing on the menu. These ribs have a sweet, extremely mild flavor (perfect for those who do not like bbq). The brisket is also soft and without flavor. The onion chips (tempura style) are different, and the best of the side dishes. The chopped pork (in some liquid), is just awful. Beans, potato salad, and coleslaw, are to be avoided. The bbq sauce is little better than ketchup. The lemon/limeade is not even close to Chick-fil-a. The decor however, is attractive.

I want to like this place. But, because of the mild-to-bland tasting food, and forgetable sides; I would not drive past Q4U, or even Pat's.

This bbq has got some things going for itself, just not enough.

GREAT FOOD!. I recently had Joe Morley's food for the first time. They caitered at a Bank of American Fork Event. We had roast beef sandwiches, potato salads, and some other side dishes. Now I am tough critic when it comes to food. The roast beef was the best I've ever had. I loved it. It was tender and had a great flavor. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone. As to the comment earlier about this is a Utah thing I don't think so. I'm not from Utah and I loved it. Good food is good food no matter where it is.

The ambience is nothing to brag about, but the beef brisket is.. The Scene
It's in a nondescript strip mall, and that blandness is reflected inside, as the walls--sparsely decorated with off-the-rack artwork and artificial floral arrangements--attest. Morley's mix of booth seating and cloth-free tables is clearly meant for function, not fashion. Though bare, the layout is able to accommodate a lunchtime rush or a large group.

The Food

Morley's delivers authentic open-pit barbecue in generous portions. Barbecue sauce aficionados might be disappointed that there's only one kind, but fortunately, it's a good one, with sweet undertones that complement and don't overwhelm the meat. But first, get warmed up with hot and spicy Killer Kielbasa, simmered in barbecue sauce and melted cheese. For entrees, the reasonably priced combination platter will please everyone, though ordinary spare ribs pale in comparison to tender and flavorful smoked chicken and moist and tangy chopped pork. Savor the brisket, a rich, melt-in-your-mouth delight. Forget
out-of-the-can beans and get crunchy fries or delectable onion chips.

Perfect for Utah natives. If your parents grew up in Utah, and you did too, you will love this place. If not, you will wonder what all of the hoopla is about.

This is Utah culture at its finest, but only average food.

Great Food and Bluegrass too!!. We go here quite often. The food is always excellent, especially the brisket, and the sauce is devine. On Fridays the bluegrass band "Ridin the Fault Line" plays, wandering thru the restaurant. They are great, and quickly realize those who truly love the music and spend extra time around your table. No romantic atmosphere, but you can get that elsewhere. This place is fun!!
