Running it into the ground. Has new management and they have hiked up the prices with smaller portions. Use to get a ton of fries. Employees are very difficult making a bad dining experience for us and other we were with. I have been hearing similar experiences. Management should make changes of go out of business.
BEST home cooked food EVER!!. It's a great atmosphere in the mountains. Old fashioned good ol' home cookin'
Bad Food Bad Service. My husband and I hear the Spring Chicken Inn is a good place to eat so we decided to give it a try. This place is a RIP OFF. First of all their fried chicken doesn't taste very good and its overly greasy like a grease sponge. Second there is not flavoring or taste to the chicken batter. The wait to get a table took a half hour and no one was really in the restaurant. After we were seated we were told that it takes about a half hour to cook the chicken. What? Why... there weren't a lot of people there. My husband and I shared a "white" chicken platter because ordering two white chicken dinners would have cost an arm and a leg. The dark chicken is much cheaper but still pricey. The restaurant is dirty, old and needs updating. I would recommend getting fried chicken from somewhere else - even KFC is much better. Do not eat here.
Dangerous Place to Eat. Saturday of Memorial Weekend. Went with a party of 6, including two young children. Restaurant only had one side open. Busy but tables were bussed and open. Owner taking number of party instead of names for seat waiting. We were told we would have to sit at two separate tables. We asked why the two open tables of four could not be pushed together. We were told there would not be enough room for the servers to move around. This was completely false. We were told we could wait for a larger table to open up, possibly 10 minutes. We agreed. Two more parties arrived after us. A party of 3 and a party of 2. The party of 3 was seated first. The party of two consisted of an older gentleman and possibly his teenage grandaughter. The older gentleman got mad and said "We're Leaving". I'm not sure why. He came back for his grandaughter and as he was going out the door, the owner said "Oh No You Don't!" and physically pushed the older man out the door and into a wooden porch post, in front of one of our party waiting on bench on porch. The door came open again and the grandaughter was trying to keep the owner from hitting the older man. Our party chose to leave at that time. We had two small children and the oldest began to cry. I asked the owner why he would physically attack his customers and he saId he didn't. This all happened right in front of us. We have eaten here in the past at different times and had different experiences. This is like the twilght zone and we will never go back. The oldest child in our party was extremely upset and crying and look what this man has taught her. She plays restaurant, takes an order and then says, You Can Leave Now. Very dangerous place to eat.
Probably the Best Fried Chicken I've Had. Incredible! We were invited there by Mike, the owner who is serving as our Real Estate agent. We were just out for the weekend looking at condos and had dinner there with him. At first glance upon arrival, we were doubful. But inside the beautiful wood and stone gave it a country inn feeling. My wife had the fried chicken and I had the chicken fried steak. Both were totally awesome, as were the mashed potatoes and gravy. The servers were very friendly and I would recommend everyone make the drive and eat there. It is now on our list of places to eat whenever we are in Park City.
5* reputation - FAIL. I've been here a number of times, the first time was great, but the next couple of times were dreadful. That's why I'm amending my review.
Famus Spring Chicken Inn.
Food: its ok. I give it 3/5, it could be better. They serve food in small quintities. Chicken is just lard, flour, and salt. I have seen many times, chicken come out, unfished, uncooked, bloo dy. The costumers refuse to eat it and leave.
Servies: BAD, if its busy, everybody freaks out !!!!! nobody really cares.... My boss ( 2009 ) does not hire enough servers, there for, waiters are over stressed from busy days. Does my boss care, no.
How clean? VERY BAD !!!! When they skin the chicken the let the bloo d run on the floor. They skin the chicken in the dish washing room. I found a couple of picis of ROTT E n chicken under tables. The hand cut french fries are made in another building, where they cut the fries. They mix the fries with some white powder c r a p, to keep the fries from rott in g. They stick so much of that stuff, that you can acculy tast it. It is very nasty reastourant to eat in. i even know that he hierd 12 year old into the reastourant, and even let 13 year olds work on the frier!!!! very dangouras. Did he care, nope. Dont eat here if you dont want to be sick!!! Also seen many mic e in the restourant and i have told the reastourant owner he never cared.
Great Food. Great Potential. Great Family Prices.. The Famous Spring Chicken Inn is a great place. It has a home country feel and GREAT FOOD! The new owner is a great guy with high standards and morals. He cares so much about how the customers feel. There is so much behind the scene glitches in the restaurant business. People don't realize this. The Food has always been and always will be top quality. On the other hand now days it is harder to find people who want to work in the restaurant business that have great work ethics... ESPECIALLY in a small town. The service is improving as time goes on. I would like to clarify that if you go in there with a bad attitude YOU WILL GET BAD SERVICE. it is in the attitude of yourselves. Remember that. As for the chicken sandwiches not being available on dinner hours. That customer was misinformed. I can already tell you that customer was a pain in the butt to even wait on. Its not the service that is bad. It is the customers attitude before they get there that is bad. If the customer is in a bad mood they reflect that attitude on their waitress. REMEMBER THAT.
Best chicken I have ever had.. Being a FRIED CHICKEN fan, I have to say that this is some of the best I have ever had. Service needs a little help but well worth the drive. In my opinion one of the best little secrets in Utah.
4.5 Star chicken with 1 star service.
I was quite exited to try this "best chicken in the west" but left with a bitter taste in my mouth from the service.
The chicken was good, I'd say it tastes like good old home fried chicken, the kind our grandparents used to make.
What I think was rather obserd though is we arrived, waited 20 minutes to be seated when there were 6 tables open.
They can not keep the free tables clean so that new customers can be seated, I felt this is a rather poor reflection on how the new owner manages the place.
The chicken is by no means cheap, and as full as that place is all day I'm sure they could easily hire someone to keep the tables cleaned off and ready.
The waitresses were ok, although as much as I like a clean table, the over bearing smell of ammonia (and I could tell it was a good strong dose from the burning of my elbows when they sat down on the table top) was a bit much.
I think Tracy's Spring Chicken Inn is already a very profitable business(for the fact that its always busy), if the owner is unable and/or unsuited to manage the place I would recommend that he invest in hiring a good and competent management staff to ensure the smooth running of the business.
