The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) keeps law-enforcement officers busy when they are not walking their beat. Members donate their time, working security at charity events for Easter Seals, Special Olympics, and the like. Members also speak to lawmakers on behalf of the group, addressing labor and safety issues. This local chapter has an annual statewide meeting for all its members; the board of directors meets every month. Membership is $5 per year, which includes a life-insurance policy, entitling your family to funeral costs, should you die in the line of duty.
